Your Brazil trip language checklist

Turn your first-day itinerary into a small, practical plan for the conversations you want to handle.

Start practising

Plan the conversations, then the phrases.

Think about the first day of your trip. You might ask where a bus leaves, check in to accommodation and order something to drink. Choose the situations that fit your itinerary, then prepare a small set of phrases you can use in more than one place.

Use the checklist below as a rehearsal plan. For each situation, practise your question and one likely reply. Keep a way to ask for clarification alongside the phrase you want to use.

Choose your first-day situations.

Tick the conversations you expect. You can use these checkboxes on screen or print the blank worksheet. With JavaScript, a preparation sheet updates below as you work.

Pick five phrases to rehearse.

Start with up to five of these phrases. Choose at least one way to ask for clarification. Read the complete request, then practise it without looking. On paper, circle your five choices.

Your priority phrases

Bring three useful questions.

Use your questions to identify what written examples cannot tell you. For example: “How would someone usually answer my direction question?” or “Could we practise a reply that I did not expect?”

Rehearse in three passes.

  1. Read both parts. Start with your question and a simple reply. Ask a speaker or teacher to model pronunciation when you can.
  2. Change one detail. Change the drink, place or direction. Keep the request familiar while you practise understanding the answer.
  3. Recover from a missed reply. Rehearse “I did not understand” and “Can you repeat that more slowly?” before returning to the conversation.

A small plan is easier to revisit than a long list of words. After practising, replace a phrase that feels familiar with one you still need. This worksheet prepares language practice; it does not replace trip arrangements or official travel information.

Rehearse your own itinerary
